Chin Augmentation in Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas

Chin AugmentationAnyone in the Dallas/Fort Worth area who wants to improve their profile and the overall aesthetic value of their face, has the option of using chin implants to improve their appearance. The use of facial implants strengthens the face, enhances your appearance and bolsters self-esteem. Chin implants are pre-formed synthetic materials that come in various sizes and shapes. Their design allows the creation of a strong, naturally shaped jawline. Chin augmentations are often combined with other facial procedures in Dallas such as:

Chin implants improve the overall effect of a facelift by enhancing the jaw and neck contour.

My Approach

An incision beneath the chin or in the mouth on the inner surface of the lower lip may be used. When face and neck procedures are done in conjunction with a chin implant cosmetic surgery in Dallas, the submental (neck) incision is generally preferred, but the final decision is left up to the patient. A chin advancement (genioplasty) is accomplished by a cut through the chin bone below the tooth roots. This allows the lower portion of the chin bone to be advanced forward and down where it is held in place with a micro-titanium plate. The chin advancement offers more overall control of facial proportion, with a better proportionate face is the ultimate goal.

Are You A Candidate?

The best candidates for chin augmentation cosmetic surgery in Dallas / Fort Worth are patients with weak or receding chins, but who have a normal dental bite. Candidates must be realistic. Facial implants can improve and enhance facial contours, but they won't make you look "perfect." A strong angular facial framework does allow a more favorable aging appearance, but I do not promote using facial implants to "lift" the face. The primary indication for using facial implants is a weak or deficient facial skeleton.

How the Procedure is Performed

The Consultation

The initial consultation which is done in our Dallas plastic surgery office involves a careful evaluation of your health, your facial proportions, your facial skeleton and soft tissues, and your expectations. All of these factors play key roles in the outcome of your surgery. Before any cosmetic procedure, your surgeon should undertake an accurate facial and skeletal appraisal. Clearly express your expectations with your surgeon until you are comfortable that you are being understood, completely. Your surgeon will assist you in determining what is possible to achieve with the current techniques and your facial structure.

Day of Surgery

Prior to sedation, the patient and physician will confirm the procedure and discuss anticipated outcomes.

Surgery

Incisions are made in the pre-determined site and the selected type and size implant is secured in the pocket the surgeon has constructed to contain it. The surgery normally takes significantly less than an hour if done independently of any other surgery. If a chin implant is being used as part of a more comprehensive aesthetic "makeover", the additional procedure adds very little time to the other procedures.

Although there is some risk with any surgery, Chin Implant surgery carries little risk and can be done as an outpatient procedure in any accredited facility. The majority of my cases are done at Dallas Day Surgery Center. The staff is exceptional and extremely skilled, and the facility is very comfortable for our patients and their families.
