My Approach
The Endoscopic Brow/Midface Lift was developed to provide a virtually scarless Dallas face lift. No hair is removed and the hairline is preserved. Using the same instrument used for endoscopic gall bladder or appendectomy surgeries, Dr. Byrd is able to use several small incisions in the scalp to thread the endoscope into the face to perform face lift surgery in Dallas without a long incision across the head formerly used.

- Minimized chance of nerve damage
Are You a Candidate?
While the EBMF is a key component for every Dallas and Fort Worth cosmetic surgery patient wishing for the look a full face lift provides, it's especially attractive to younger patients who may be able to postpone or defer the necessity of full face surgery. Dallas residents appreciate the limited approach that when combined with good skin care and chemical or laser treatment of damaged skin can provide the same outstanding results offered by the more invasive full face lift. The endoscopic approach to brow and mid-face lifting allows for the creation of an elegant look that restores upper face angularity, alertness and youthfulness without that "surprised" look that it sometimes seen after an aggressive full face lift surgery performed in Dallas.
Regardless of age or skin condition, the endoscopic approach is a good choice for almost anyone concerned about the changes gravity and time have taken on his or her face. In most patients, the earliest signs of aging are around the eyes and cheeks. Wrinkles on the forehead may be visible even at rest. The brows may have dropped some. The lower lid may have begun to sag. Even the full youthful look on the cheeks may have fallen to gravity's relentless pull downward. If you want a bright, youthful, rested appearance, an endoscopic approach is certainly a consideration for you.
How the Procedure is Performed
The Consultation
Your consultation prior to a face lift procedure is a discussion to determine if time and gravity have taken away the look you want. It's also meant to discover if the EBMF or other facelift will restore a realistic and satisfactory result. Once that agreement has been reached, and both doctor and patient are satisfied with the agreement, the details of the surgery can be decided upon. The Day of Surgery
Prior to sedation, pre-op markings are made while the patient is in the sitting position. Photos of the patient at an earlier age (10-15 years prior) are extremely helpful in establishing the plan for rejuvenation.
Surgery
Small incisions are made just slightly behind the hairline at the top of the head. The endoscope is then gently guided down the face to visualize the underlying support structure. This endoscopic vision allows us to operate without totally removing the skin of the face from its bony support system. Generally, the lateral brows are elevated to a slightly higher level to produce a look of elegance as opposed to a look of surprise. The muscles around the eyes are tightened minimizing the lines caused by the normal moves your face makes during the day. Tightening these muscles also smoothes the eyelid contours producing a smooth transition from the brow to the cheek.
EBMF surgery carries little risk and can be done as an outpatient procedure in any accredited facility. The majority of my cases are done at Dallas Day Surgery Center. The staff is exceptional and extremely skilled, and the facility is very comfortable for our patients and their families.
