Breast Augmentation Surgery in Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas
Breast enlargement in Dallas / Fort Worth is about more than just putting a breast implant under the skin. Less experienced Dallas cosmetic surgeons have promoted a "one size fits all" philosophy using one single implant and one single incision site for all patients. But having a beautiful, natural looking breast is not that simple.
If you're interested in discussing the right strategy for creating the most beautiful, natural looking results for your individual needs, get $100 off your consultation and come in to talk with Dallas plastic surgeon Dr. Steve Byrd today.
My Approach
I use four basic surgical approaches to breast augmentation:
- Endoscopic - (armpit)
- Periareolar (around the outside edge of the nipple)
- Inframammary fold (below the breast, where chest and breast connect)
- Transumbilical (belly button)
The many secondary implant removal and implant replacements that I've done over many years performing plastic surgery in Dallas are evidence that the "one size fits all" theory doesn't work. The attitude that the female breast can be stretched to any desired size should be put to rest.
Working with an informed Dallas breast enlargement patient who directs the desired outcome, a surgeon can select the best implant and breast augmentation technique needed.
Are You a Candidate?
Candidates for breast enlargement in Dallas / Fort Worth should be informed, healthy and have a reasonable expectation of improvement, not perfection, from their breast augmentation surgery. Childbirth, weight loss and prior breast surgery are common causes of changes in breast shape that can be addressed by breast augmentation. Dallas patients must realized that augmentation is not a magic pill that will dramatically change their personality or the way people treat them.
How Dallas Breast Enlargement is Performed
The Consultation
Breast augmentation, whether you live in Dallas, Los Angeles or New York, is more than just surgery, as the outcome must be visually pleasing as well as technically correct. The "artistry" involved is very important to both the patient and the doctor. The skin dimensions of the breast need to be accurately measured to determine symmetry. A failure to recognize subtle differences may result in a misplaced implant which may actually highlight rather than camouflage any deformity. The importance of a thorough and precise pre-op evaluation would be difficult to overstate. By requesting a consultation, both patient and doctor can reach a mutual decision about the expected outcome.
Day of Surgery
Prior to sedation, measurements will be confirmed and marked to indicate the incision sites and implant position.
Surgery
Breast augmentation carries little risk and can be done as an outpatient procedure in any accredited facility using IV sedation or general anesthesia. The majority of my cases are done at Dallas Day Surgery Center. The staff is exceptional and extremely skilled, and the facility is very comfortable for our patients and their families.
Incisions are made at the sites chosen by the patient and physician during consultation. The chosen size and style of implant is then placed either on top or underneath the pectoral muscle depending on patient desires and existing anatomy. Surgical drains are seldom required. A dressing is applied over the incision and a surgical bra worn for the first week. Routine medications include an antibiotic and an oral analgesic (pain medication).
