Do You Feel Like Your Breasts Are Too Big for Your Frame?

Overly large breast size can cause both physical and emotional problems to the women who have them. Some women may simply be uncomfortable with their large breasts even if they do not cause any pain. Others may experience severe discomfort on a daily basis. If you feel that your breasts are too large for your body frame or they’re causing you pain, then a breast reduction surgery is the best option for you.

About Breast Reduction Surgery

Breast reduction surgery, also known as reduction mammaplasty, is a plastic surgery procedure designed to reduce the the size of the breasts. It involves the removal of excess tissues and fat from the breasts.

Your doctor will make an incision around the areola with a vertical line below it. He will then determine the incision pattern as best suited for individual patients. Through these incisions, your surgeon will remove extra fat, skin, and tissues from each breast. The breasts will then be reshaped and the nipples and areola will be repositioned to fit the new contours.

If needed, your surgeons may also perform liposuction to remove any hard to reach fatty deposits. It may be used in addition to incisions or as a standalone procedure (in case the removal of skin is not necessary).

If the breasts are too large, it may be necessary to remove and transplant the nipples and the areola to a higher position. The incisions will then be closed with sutures. After the treatment is completed, you may have bandages or compression garments placed over your breasts to hold them together and to keep them protected.

During the recovery period, you will need to avoid vigorous activities to ensure a speedy recovery. You may experience some swelling on the breasts for a few days after the surgery, but this is temporary and should subside over time. Your surgeon may prescribe pain medication or antibiotics to aid the recovery process. Within two weeks, you may be able to resume your normal routine.

You will be able to see the results of the surgery immediately, but the full effect will only be apparent once the swelling subsides completely. If you are able to maintain your normal weight, you can expect to have life-long results.

Choosing to Undergo a Breast Reduction Surgery

Many women with very large breasts experience pain in the shoulders and the neck. Nerve pain is also a common occurrence that these women have to struggle with on a daily basis. Large pendulous breasts can also cause rashes underneath the crease. Perspiration below the breasts can cause discomfort and hygiene issues.

In addition to these factors, women with large breasts may find it difficult to perform strenuous physical activities such as sports and general exercise. Running or even walking may be painful if the breasts are unusually large.

The issues don’t end there. For some women, having large breasts can make it difficult to fit into certain styles of clothing comfortably. Women may not find proper clothing to accommodate their breasts comfortable and feel forced to wear styles that don’t really flatter their figures..

Reduction mammaplasty offers women with the above problems an option to achieve their desired breast size. It is a safe and effective procedure that can help add proportion to the body and make it appear more aesthetically pleasing.
