Losing weight through diet and exercise can be extremely difficult and can take a very long time. Dieting and exercise will surely get you closer to your weight-loss goals, but plastic surgery will help take you those last few steps towards fully achieving your weight-loss goals.

If you aren’t satisfied with your looks and find yourself hiding your body in social situations like going to the beach or a pool party, it is time to consider plastic surgery to acquire the look you’ve always wanted.

What Is Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction?

UAL, or Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction, is a type of liposuction procedure that uses sound waves that vibrate at high frequencies to help liquefy fat in certain areas of a patient’s body before it is surgically removed.

The sound waves are focused on areas of the body that have excess amounts of stubborn fat, including the thighs, abs, glutes, calves, ankles, and knees. It can also be used to treat fat deposits in the face such as the chin, cheeks, and neck.

The UAL Procedure

The UAL procedure utilizes ultrasonic sound waves to liquefy fat deposits in problem areas of the body that are prone to retaining fat. The target area is first injected with a tumescent fluid that makes liquefied fat much easier to remove because it emulsifies the fat in that area.

The tumescent fluid is a combination of epinephrine, a saltwater solution, and anesthetic. This fluid not only acts as an anesthetic but also helps in preventing the loss of fluid from the section of the body undergoing the treatment. It also aids in the efficient removal of fat deposits from the designated area.

To begin the UAL procedure, your surgeon will inject the tumescent fluid in the particular areas of the body that you discussed during your initial consultation. The fat in the targeted areas will be melted away.

The next step involves the use of a generator that produces high-frequency sound waves. The sound waves are transmitted to the designated area using a cannula, a thin tube that acts like a vacuum. Once the cannula is placed on the desired area, the sound waves liquefy the fat cells in that area quickly and then the cannula vacuums out the cells.

What Are the Advantages of UAL?

UAL is a great alternative to normal liposuction because it can help treat areas of the body that have dense fat deposits. Unlike a regular liposuction procedure which might require the patient to come in for multiple sessions to remove large fat deposits from certain areas, UAL can remove much larger amounts of fat from one area in one shot.

For enhanced results, UAL can be performed along with other procedures like abdominoplasty or a body lift surgery to help in reducing excess fat and baggy skin. The UAL recovery period can take either a few days or a few weeks depending on the amount of fat removed and the body parts affected.
